Patient Navigator - Certificate of Specialization
Patient Navigators (PNs) are responsible for assisting California’s immigrant population to access healthcare. Through work experience, the student will integrate the knowledge gained in the courses in order to best serve the community. The ideal candidate in this field speaks another language besides English, has good interpersonal skills, empathy for the community, and a strong interest in the medical field.
This one year certificate program offers students training in medical terminology, health education, introductory medical assisting, and cross-cultural communication skills. The Patient Navigator certificate serves as a pathway for students looking to start or further their career in healthcare roles such as Medical Assisting.
