Enrichment Activities
Art Gallery
The Art Gallery in the Carmen Castellano Fine Arts Center at San José City College offers a wide variety of exhibitions that are open to the public free of charge. Student works are featured in the latter part of fall and spring semesters. During the remainder of the year, works by professional artists, SJCC alumni, and SJCC distinguished faculty are featured. Show opening receptions allow members of the SJCC community and the public to meet the artists. Frequently, visiting artists present informal lectures and presentations about their art.

Athletics
Intercollegiate competition is offered in a number of sports for men and women. These include men’s football and golf, women’s softball and volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball, track and field, and cross-country. SJCC is a member of the Coast Conference, one of the most prestigious community college conferences in America, and has achieved a record of athletic excellence. There are full-time coaches in all sports; coaches take an active role in promoting both athletic and scholastic achievement. A Field Turf artificial football field and a Super X Mondo all-weather track are athletic facilities second to none in America. The fitness complex with modern weight and cardiovascular equipment provides classes and supports the athletics program.

Media Club
All SJCC students are invited to join the Media Club and get involved in the College newspaper and/or online radio station.
The college newspaper, The City College Times, is produced and published in print and online by students enrolled in journalism courses at SJCC. No experience is necessary; it is open to all students. Being a participant in The Times allows students to learn about journalism through hands-on experience in news reporting, feature writing, opinion writing, sports writing, editing, staff management, photography, page design, illustrating, advertising sales, website management, social media reporting, and branding. The Times provides a forum for campus-wide dissemination and discussion of information and issues. Students run a paper that has earned multiple awards from the Journalism Association of Community Colleges (JACC) and the California College Media Association.
The College online radio station, KJCC, is operated by SJCC students who are interested in broadcast performance and/or programming. The Media Club provides training for any SJCC student interested in operating the radio console or hosting a radio program. The station also provides hands-on experience for students enrolled in the broadcasting courses at SJCC. KJCC airs various programs, including news stories, sports commentary, and talk shows. The station also serves to disseminate information on college affairs and issues.
